Keegan is an educator and community builder, focused on utilizing technology to create positive social change. She spent the last eight years working in public education, five of those years in Omaha Public Schools.
Her career in OPS began as a special education paraprofessional, followed by a student teaching experience, and eventual full-time position as a high school English teacher in South Omaha. Most recently, Keegan worked as a leader in educational technology at the district-level, specializing in digital citizenship, advocacy, and privacy efforts.
The students and families of Omaha Public Schools are always at the forefront of Keegan's mind in her work and her community outreach efforts. Keegan believes that strong public schools mean strong, vibrant communities and the success of public schools impacts us all; from our local economy to the sustainability and growth of talent and skilled workers in our community.
Currently, Keegan works in the non-profit sector in collaboration with many city agencies helping to integrate technology and innovative solutions around increased and equitable transportation. Keegan says she "brings the human side to tech," by collaborating with stakeholders and through clear communication and engagement. She intends to bring this skill set to the table while running for, and potentially serving on the Omaha Public Schools Board of Education.
Keegan serves on the Board of Trustees for the Omaha Public Library, the Board of Directors for Felius Cat Café, and she is the mentor of an incredible young woman through Girls Inc. of Omaha. In her spare time, she enjoys cross-stitching and listening to podcasts and audiobooks. She lives in the Hanscom Park neighborhood with her husband and best friend, Justin, and their three wild cats.
